The Other Guys

We are used to seeing buddy-cop movies concentrate primarily on the extraordinary efforts of the super cops as they chase down the bad guys. In the background is usually the paper pushing nerdy ‘other cops’. The Other Guys, however, sets to tell the story of the other cops so often forgotten.

The Other Guys starring Will Farrell as Detective Allen Gamble and Mark Wahlberg as Detective Terry Hoitz are hilarious as the Other Guys. Allen is a nerdy forensic accountant who spends his time filing paperwork and refuses do any investigating in the field. Terry used to work the streets, but since accidentally shooting a high-profile New York figure while on duty, he has been assigned to desk work with Allen.

After the death of the two top-cops, Allen and Terry try to prove their worth as cops by trying to solve a high profile case. They are thrown in the middle of the action. Allen is a quiet cop who avoids conflict at any cost while Terry can’t wait to be thrown into the middle of any investigation.

Allen is hilarious when his outburst begin and Terry makes the audience laugh as he attacks Allen at every opportunity.

The Other Guys offers a steady stream of gags and one-liners.
