Charlie Sheen is going to jail because he will plead no contest to misdemeanor assault in Aspen next Monday and get 30 days in county jail as part of a plea deal.

Why is he accepting this. As part of the 3 options available to him, this one was the safest. It will spare him the potential of a lengthy sentence if probation is granted and he messes up.

With good behavior, Sheen could end up doing 15 or so days. Sheen, 44, was arrested Christmas day on suspicion he pinned wife Brooke Mueller, 32, to a bed and held a knife to her throat during a domestic dispute.

He was charged Feb. 8 with felony menacing, misdemeanor third-degree assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Charlie Sheen is reportedly planning to agree to a plea deal that will see him jailed.

The Two and a Half Men star – who will appear in court on June 7 to answer charges of felony menacing, misdemeanour third-degree assault and misdemeanour criminal mischief relating to a row he had with wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day – is planning to plead guilty to a misdemeanour offence, and will start a 30-day jail term immediately afterwards.

A source told People magazine: “Charlie intends to go to court on June 7 to plead to a misdemeanour and immediately begin serving his 30 days in jail. With good behaviour, he could end up doing 15 or so days.”

It is believed Charlie, 44, will not be placed on probation once he has completed his sentence.

A spokesperson for the actor insists he hasn’t yet agreed a deal, but is willing to negotiate with the court.

His representative said: “Charlie has not agreed to do anything except enter into discussions with the court.

“He has been accused of a crime. Prior to any trial, courts would like to work out a plea. It saves the court money, it saves the community money. If they can do it, they will. If they can’t decide on something, they will go to trial.”

Charlie is currently living apart from 32-year-old Brooke, with the couple sharing custody of their 15-month-old twins Bob and Max.
