Gary Coleman has died as the result of injuries he suffered earlier this week.
Shannon Coleman, his wife, made the decision to pull life support early today.
Coleman died at 12:05 p.m. He died of a intracranial hemorrhage. He was 42. Family members and close friends were at Coleman’s side when life support was pulled.
Details of how Coleman was injured are still unclear. Earlier today, reports claimed he was unconscious and surviving on life support, but it was a losing battle.
The star had been experiencing a host of recent health troubles. He was rushed to the hospital in January following a seizure, and suffered another one in February on the set of The Insider. In the past he had undergone two kidney transplants while being treated for a congenital kidney disease, for which he needed daily dialysis.
Coleman was best known for his work as Arnold Jackson on the ’80s series Diff’rent Strokes, which co-starred Todd Bridges and Dana Plato and ran from 1978 to 1986. It also spawned his popular catchphrase “Whatchoo talkin’ about, Willis?”
He leaves behind his wife of two and a half years, Shannon Price, with whom he recently filed for divorce.
Details about memorial services have not yet been announced.
